Rita Lundqvist has a peculiar imagery. Figures and everyday objects are given a prominent role and the small fluctuations are prepared much space. A glance, a silent gesture and a sitting bird creates pathways for the eye to follow.

Rita Lundqvist was born in Hässleholm 1953 and she lives and works in Stockholm. She received her artistic training at the Royal Academy of Fine Art in Stockholm between 1980-1985.

Rita Lundqvist has exhibited both in Sweden and abroad, including Liljevalchs in Stockholm, Malmö Museum, Norrköping Art Museum, Roseum in Malmö and at Tanya Bonakdar Gallery in New York. She is represented in several public collections, including Moderna Museet in Stockholm, Borås Museum of Art, Gothenburg Museum of Art, Malmö Art Museum and Norrköping Museum of Art.

Since the year 2000, Rita Lundqvist is a member of the Royal Academy of Fine Art in Stockholm and she was awarded The Barbro and Holger Bäckström artist scholarship in 2011.
