Lars Bohman Gallery is proud to present the gallery’s first solo exhibition with PG Thelander.

With a great portion of humor and absurdity, Thelander´s works depict the various roles that humans play. In his paintings one can trace the interaction between the intellect and the peculiar fantasy. Different themes such as the binary relationships between adulthood and childishness, male and female and the contradictory behavior of the human being are entwined with allusions and quotes from both art history and the contemporary art world. Animals and everyday objects often constitute a great part of the paintings. This broad and seemingly unaccountable mixture of motifs gives the paintings numerous dimensions and fills them with an exciting and symbolical charge and ambiguity.

PG Thelander was born in 1936 and lives and works in Stockholm, Sweden. He studied at The National Collage of Arts, Crafts and Design, Stockholm (1953-1959) and The Royal University Collage of Fine Arts, Stockholm (1959 – 1964). Thelander´s works are represented in many national as well as international museum collections, such as Museum of Modern Art, New York; San Francisco Museum of Art; Victoria and Albert Museum, London; British Museum, London; Bibliotheque National, Paris; Nationalmuseum, Stockholm and Moderna Museet, Stockholm.
